Hey everyone! My name is Yahya, and I’m running to be your Year 1 Academic Representative for Biochem.

As someone coming from a school where 5 A-level subjects are mandatory, I understand how imperative it is for study resources to be accessible, organised, and well-maintained.

Being the Biology Rep during A levels, I raised the class's concerns with the teacher; posted timely updates regarding additional resources, schedule changes, etc.; and assisted students who had missed classes. I also enjoyed helping classmates work through challenging past-paper questions and concepts in our STEM group chat. Wanting to extend this support beyond my own class, I created a study resource drive for younger students to make revision materials more accessible.

I have had exposure to how departments operate, how to navigate them, and yield results.

If elected, I will aim for, but not limit myself to:
- Report any audio-visual problems with lecture recordings so they can be promptly attended to.
- Creating a friendly and approachable environment where anyone can ask me anything :)
- Forwarding your concerns to the lecturers and asking follow-up questions where concepts are not explained properly to make your learning easier.
- Ensuring the Imperial Biochemistry Resource Repository is organised and up to date.
- Sharing updates on the issues raised and any responses or progress, so you know what’s being done.

Biochemistry is complicated enough. Getting help shouldn’t be.
