Hiya! I’m Ioan, and I’m running for Y2 Academic Rep 🔬
We all seen the messages on the WhatsApp:
“When will the lectures be on Panopto?”
“What does X mean on my CELCAT calendar?”
“What did the lecturer actually mean by X for this assignment?”
I'd genuinely love to ensure these conversations don't hit dead ends, especially when Canvas is new to many lecturers - I know we'll run into many issues in Y2 and I've seen how problems like this delay or confuse so many of us.
1) Clarifying the coursework
I’ll proactively get answers on modules, assessments, teaching etc (not just when something goes wrong or you have a question). I'll bring recurring concerns and suggestions directly to the department by genuinely seeking out your views.
2) Feedback that actually goes somewhere
Representation shouldn't be this weird, nebulous, hand-wavy black box. After meetings, I'll clearly communicate what was raised, what response we received, and what happens next. This is so you can see where your feedback goes and what is actually being done.
3) Make speaking up easy
Not everyone wants to send a formal email or speak to the professor. I'll maintain an accessible way to submit ideas or concerns (including anonymously) alongside informal check-ins throughout the year.
