Rachel Huang

Bioengineering (UG): Year One Academic Representative

Hi everyone! I'm Rachel Huang, a first-year BME student, and I'm running to be your Bioengineering Year One Academic Representative.

I want to run for this position because I believe every student deserves to have their voice heard and their concerns taken seriously. University is a place where we learn and grow together, and I believe we can improve our academic experience by listening to different perspectives and working together.

If elected, I'll focus on four key areas:

1. Making Every Voice Heard

I will actively collect feedback on lectures, tutorials, exams, and homework, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns, and that different perspectives are considered.

2. Turning Feedback into Action

I will communicate your feedback and concerns to professors, programme leaders, and relevant staff, work with them to find practical solutions, and keep you updated on progress.

3. Expanding Learning Resources

I will work with the department to explore additional learning resources, such as practice questions from higher-year courses, to help students go beyond lecture content and deepen their understanding of bioengineering.

4. Connecting You with Opportunities

I will work with the department to help students gain better access to information about internships, UROP, exchange programmes, and other academic opportunities, helping students plan ahead for their studies and future careers.

I hope you feel comfortable coming to me with any questions or concerns. I'll listen, share your feedback with the right people, and keep you updated.

I'd really appreciate your support. Thank you!
