Priyasuhi Navaratnam
Megamaalai is more than a showcase of talent—it is a celebration of our culture, creativity and community. I am standing for Head of Acts because I want to create an experience that every participant is proud to be part of, both on and off the stage.
As a Bharatanatyam dancer since the age of six, I have grown up immersed in Tamil culture, storytelling and performance. Years of rehearsals, productions and stage performances have taught me the dedication and teamwork needed to bring an act to life. I understand not only the excitement of performing, but also the hard work and challenges behind the scenes.
Having participated in last year's Freshers' Act, I understand the demands of Megamaalai and the challenge of balancing rehearsals, deadlines and university life. As a leader of my school's South Asian Society, I also helped organise cultural events and showcases, developing strong leadership and organisational skills. These experiences have given me valuable insight into both the performer and organiser perspectives.
As Head of Acts, I will ensure every team feels supported and empowered to succeed. Alongside coordinating auditions and monitoring progress, I want to introduce a choreographer mentorship programme for first-time choreographers, creative consultation sessions to strengthen performances and a backstage buddy system to provide support on the day of Megamaalai.
Most importantly, I want every performer to step onto the Megamaalai stage feeling confident and proud. Together, we can ensure every act reaches its full potential and make this year's Megamaalai one to remember.
