Top o’ the mornin’ y’all, I'm Alex, running to be your Main Show co-MD alongside Sami. And we thought, instead of bore you with a carefully written manifesto, we'd tell a little story.

If you’ve ever wondered who’s house you’re in... it’s probably Sami’s. That’s right, it’s his house (now!). Either bouncing his way around the stage or really carrying the band with the violin, he’s judged by many, adored by more, and... heard by all. Having been vice chair and social sec of music soc, he’s organised and been to every social round the block and is SUPER excited to run SUPER fun rehearsals and take part in wider SUPER light opera life!

But hang on, what’s that... uh oh! Sami’s not alone. With every step he takes, there’s a low brass note, ~vaguely in the style of some Mario theme~. Bringing (or blowing) up the rear, it’s Alex. Having played trombone for two shows already, he’s sick of it – perhaps not the only one who is... but he can never be sick of bossing people around, and retiring after two years of conducting a choir, he’s trying to get his fix by going for Main Show Co-MD as well this year.

Just to summarise, we want Main Show to sound absolutely massive by show week, while making every rehearsal full of chaos and good vibes, but above all we’re committed to keeping Light Opera the inclusive, supportive, slightly unhinged place we all know and love.
