Suen Yean Goh
Chemical Engineering: Sustainability Officer
Hi everyone! I'm Suen Yean, a first-year Chemical Engineering student running for Sustainability Officer.
As a Sustainability Ambassador at Imperial, I actively promote sustainability initiatives across the university. I also volunteered at the Great Exhibition Road Festival's Junk Sculpture booth, where I helped engage the public in creative reuse activities. These experiences have shown me that sustainability is most impactful when it is practical, engaging, and connected to everyday life.
If elected, I will focus on:
- Green Careers & Industry Opportunities
Organising a sustainability-focused careers event and connecting students with companies working in clean energy, sustainable manufacturing, carbon capture, and other emerging sectors. - Talks & Networking Events
Bringing in academics, alumni, and industry professionals to discuss how chemical engineers can drive sustainable innovation. - Sustainable Chem Eng Challenge
Launching a sustainability challenge where students can develop and pitch solutions to real-world engineering and environmental problems, helping members apply their knowledge while gaining valuable experience and industry insight. - A Greener Chem Eng Society
Promoting more sustainable practices at Society events and exploring partnerships with organisations that share our commitment to sustainability.
I want to make sustainability a visible, relevant, and exciting part of our Society while creating opportunities for members to learn, connect, and prepare for the future of chemical engineering.
