Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
My name is Ihsan and I'm running to be next year's VP of PotMed. Having now been apart of MM committee for two years doing different roles, the one thing that remained constant in that time is PotMed. As treasurer I had a unique role where I was involved with all events MM did this year and it gave me unique insight into what it takes for such events to be run. Seeing the work PotMed does inspired me to go back to my sixth form and establish an alumni admissions support system where we help prospective MDV applicants during each step of their admissions journey. Alhamdulillah in the 2 years since we started, we have helped over 50 students get offers. PotMed plays a vital role in the journeys of many future doctors and I'll use my unique insights to help many more in thier journey Insha Allah.
As VP of PotMed, I aim to exapand the depth and reach of our help by:
- Implementing a mentorship scheme - using a platform like Brightside mentoring which ensures that students benefit from the tips of mentors and the safety of everyone at the same time
- PotMed on tour - going directly to schools to deliver tutorials and intensives for pupils in underprivileged areas
- Day in the life of a Muslim Medic - a one day event which gives younger students exposure to life at university and as a medic
- Expand the volunteer base by working with other societies and universities
