Having been a part of Muslim Medics this year, I have gained not only experience but also a community- MM has played an integral role throughout my second year of medicine and has taught me a lot regarding teamwork.
At the end of first year, I began my social media pages with one intention, to show people getting into medicine isn’t impossible. While medicine is a difficult yet rewarding course, not enough people talk about the process. I think PotMed is a pathway that aligns with my passion of guiding others in the same way that I wished I’d been guided when I was applying. Seeing the impact that PotMed conferences have in helping people get into medicine highlights how rewarding it is to play a part in their journey.
Being a part of MM means I’ve played countless roles in PotMed, I have experience with PotMed’s social media- some of you may remember the suturing instagram story! As well as this I’ve also helped firsthand with conferences. I would truly say that my experience with PotMed has given me exposure to what it’s like to be VP for PotMed. Furthermore having organised MM dinner- it has given me valuable insight into the vast responsibility & organisation required for events, not only for them to happen but to happen well. I truly look forward to helping PotMed grow by dedicating my time to do what I’m most passionate about, if there’s a role that fits with my passion, it’s this.
