Muslim Medics: Year 2 Coordinator

I really enjoyed being part of Muslim Medics this year and would love the opportunity to contribute more next year. The sense of community within the society is unmatched, and I really value how supportive and welcoming it is both academically and socially.

Through my role as PotMed Intensive Lead, I developed strong organisational, communication, and mentoring skills through coordinating sessions, supporting students, and helping organise widening participation events for aspiring medics. Being involved in mentoring and teaching throughout the year, alongside receiving positive feedback from students, made me realise how much I enjoy supporting students academically and creating engaging learning environments. I also delivered an SBA tutorial for Year 1 students, which further strengthened my interest in peer teaching and academic support.

Having recently completed second year myself, I understand how intense and overwhelming it can feel at times, and I would love to help make the year feel more accessible and supportive for students. I would love to build on the interactive SBA revision sessions already introduced this year while also expanding support in areas where students may feel there are fewer accessible revision resources available, particularly for newer aspects of the course such as CPA and LMAP. This could include a CPA guide or crash course, revision resources for LMAP, and more interactive question-based teaching sessions.

Overall, I would love the opportunity to use the skills I have developed this year to help support Year 2 students and contribute positively to the Muslim Medics community.
