Hello SynBIC!

I am Balazs, a Biochemistry student and I am running to be your events officer next year. When I came to Imperial, SynBIC stood out for me as a proper academic society, centered around cutting-edge research, skills development and iGEM. As events officer, I want to build on this, so the field of Synthetic Biology can reach even bigger audiences. I believe that I have all the organizational and creative skills required to succeed.

As events officer, I would organize events such as:

• Talks with researchers/entrepreneurs from the field of synthetic biology within and outside Imperial
• Connect you with other SynBio communities (Oxford, Cambridge)
• Group trips to frontier SynBio conferences and symposiums (e.g. SynBioUK, SynbiTECH)
• Revive Imperial’s own SynBio conference: the Frontiers in Scientific Research Summit (FSRS)
• Workshops suitable for first and final years alike
• More social events: Pub quizzes, movie and games nights!
• The pizza is here to stay though!

SynBIC shouldn’t just be about iGEM or competition. It should reflect the passion we all share towards Synthetic Biology even if that’s hopping in for a seminar. Let’s make SynBIC it’s best iteration yet!
