Lena Kesraoui
Hello! My name is Lena :) I am a second-year medical student and hopefully a future GP!
GP Soc has played a significant role in shaping my interest in General Practice. Through attending and being part of the subcommittee for this year's GP Conference, I gained valuable insight into the breadth of opportunities within the specialty. I would love the chance to help provide similar opportunities for other students to discover whether GP is for them and to learn more about what a career in General Practice can look like.
As Education Officer, I want to focus on making engaging and accessible workshops available to students across all year groups. I would work to organise sessions that complement our curriculum, including revision events, clinical and OSCE skills workshops, as well as expert talks delivered by GPs and trainees. Additionally, I would love to host ethical discussion sessions on key dilemmas in General Practice, as well as information sessions on the GP training pathway and portfolio building.
I would also like to increase opportunities for students to explore the diversity of General Practice by hosting events that showcase different special interests and roles that GPs can pursue alongside clinical practice. This was one of the most eye-opening aspects of the conference for me, and I would love to help challenge the misconception that GP is boring. For students considering a future in GP, I hope to make the specialty feel more accessible, exciting, and approachable. Thank you for your consideration!
