Advik Nair

I am running for the role of Jazz Band Manager because I am deeply committed to the community that ICSM Music fosters, and I want to give back to the society by helping with the behind the scenes work to make Jazz Band possible. My time performing with the various ensembles within ICSM Music has given me an insight into the effort that everyone invests into the society, and I want to be in a role where I can support that motivation to ensure each rehearsal is enjoyable, rewarding, and productive.

Building on my experiences as a fresher on committee and my time with Jazz Band, Choir, Bands, and playing at STFYD, I have developed an appreciation for the specific logistics required for each performance. Additionally, I was able to develop my time management when balancing university life with music and committee involvement, which gives me the confidence that I can undertake the responsibilities within this role. These experiences, combined with my leadership and teamwork roles from the CCF, have prepared me with the skills needed to support Jazz Band with setup, organisation for gigs and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

I am also passionate about ensuring an inclusive environment for both returning and new Jazz Band members. By approaching this role with enthusiasm, commitment and warmth, I wish to maintain the friendly and positive atmosphere within Jazz Band which promotes creativity in a space where everyone feels supported.
