Brian Wong

Hello everyone! If you don’t already know me, I’m Brian and I’m running to be your next Jazz Band Manager.

Literally from week one of med school, music society has been a central part of my uni life - I have you guys to thank for helping this fresher integrate so seamlessly into uni life. I was drawn in by the judgement-free environment where I could express my creative ideas on the piano, and no other ensemble embodies this better than Jazz Band (loved Fashion Show!). That is why I am hoping as JB Manager, I would be able to contribute more in wider society concerts and events.

As Fresher on Committee, I was fortunate enough to get a glimpse into the inner workings of ICSM and it’s lots of work! I couldn’t help but show up here and there to help out (may have seen me struggle to fit a tympani into brian drewe). It wasn’t just “chores” - it was also bonding time with fellow society members. I want to do more!

An aspect of JB I would like to improve is organising more “taster sessions” during rehearsal downtimes - I’ve had several friends express interest in joining, but find it intimidating to join pre-existing rehearsals.

My med parents did an amazing job introducing me to music society and its committee. By the end of all the socials, you guys already feel like family. I canNOT wait to introduce (indoctrinate) my own med children and other freshers to our amazing ensembles!
