Psychiatry: General Committee
Hi, I'm a second-year medical student with a passion for psychiatry, a speciality that requires a unique understanding of a patient’s brain, body and background. I'm committed to helping break down barriers and increasing awareness of this rewarding field.
Through my experience on other committees, I have developed strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills. Providing wellbeing support to younger students and my research into the negative impact of poor mental health on adolescents in the community has inspired me to engage with a number of PsychSoc events and I’m excited for the opportunity to improve engagement with them moving forward. These positions have honed my organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively whilst teaching me the importance of consistent and reliable contribution to a society’s success.
As a General Committee member, I would be committed to supporting the society wherever needed, whether through helping to organise events or contributing to academic initiatives and community outreach. I'm particularly excited about supporting the PsychStart Mentoring programme to ensure more students can access valuable research and career guidance, while also helping to promote events and activities that showcase psychiatry's vital role in modern healthcare. I would also be keen to identify areas where student engagement can be improved and work with the committee to strengthen the society's overall impact.
If elected, I would bring enthusiasm, reliability and help foster a supportive community, and I hope to inspire more medical students to explore this psychiatry as a future career!
