I want to build a programme of events that goes beyond traditional lectures, reigniting the curiosity and passion for biochemistry that inspired us to get here. Through guest speakers, career panels, research showcases, and hands-on workshops, I want to give students the opportunity to explore how biochemistry is applied in academia, industry, healthcare, and biotechnology.
Inspired by the success of other societies, such as the Computational Biology Society, I would also introduce practical skills workshops that allow students to develop valuable technical and professional skills, while exploring emerging areas of the field we may not encounter in our degree. These events would enhance employability and encourage curiosity, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning.
Most importantly, I want our events to bring people together, giving students from all years the chance to meet, learn from each other, and share their experiences.
