Anaira Jalan

Hi! I’m Anaira and I’m running to be ICUCC Women’s President this year.

I’ve been part of ICUCC since the very start of freshers, and the club has genuinely been such a big part of my university experience. Over the past two years, I’ve been actively involved in both trainings and socials, and last year I was on committee as Women’s Social Sec, which gave me a pretty good understanding of how committee works and the organisation needed to help run the club properly.

As Women’s Pres, I think it’s really important to keep building the women’s side of the club while also helping bridge the gap between the men’s and women’s teams. I think its important for the Pres to be not only involved in the sport, but be an active social member to help build the community and also make the women feel included in all aspects of ICUCC. As someone who was completely new to cricket at the start of uni, I would really want to help create an atmosphere that feels welcoming for those who are new to the sport and complete beginners, and allow the Women's Captain to focus more on the development of our experienced players.

I’m very involved in the club and care a lot about making it welcoming, fun, and accessible for more women. ICUCC has been such an important part of my time at uni, and I’d love the chance to give back and help more people feel the same way.
