Women in SET: Secretary

Hi everyone! I'm Suen Yean, a first-year Chemical Engineering student running for Secretary of Women in SET.

As a student passionate about supporting women in STEM, I would love the opportunity to contribute to a society that empowers students, builds confidence, and creates a strong sense of community.

As Secretary, I will work to ensure the Society runs smoothly by maintaining clear communication, keeping members informed about events and opportunities, and supporting the committee in organising engaging activities throughout the year.

In addition, I would like to:

  • Improve Communication & Accessibility
Introduce a shared Outlook calendar to help members keep track of events, deadlines, and opportunities in one place, with reminders and easy integration into personal calendars. I would also enhance the newsletter by including a clear monthly events overview and direct links to sign-ups and calendars.
  • Listen to Our Members
Regularly collect feedback through surveys to better understand what members want from Women in SET. By working closely with the committee, I will help ensure that future events and initiatives reflect the interests and needs of our community.
  • Promote Transparency & Engagement
Circulate meeting summaries and maintain an archive of key society updates so members can stay informed about committee decisions, ongoing projects, and the Society's achievements. This will encourage greater involvement and make it easier for members to contribute ideas for future events.

If you share my vision for a more connected, inclusive, and engaging Women in SET community, please vote for me as Secretary. Thank you for your support!
