Lamisah Syeda

I would like to join the Muslim Medics committee as Secretary because I have really enjoyed being involved with the society and would love the opportunity to contribute further. Through my previous experience with Muslim Medics, I have gained a good understanding of how the society runs and what is involved behind the scenes, which has made me interested in taking on this role.
I previously worked as Experience Lead for the Muslim Medics Conference, where I worked closely with the Secretary and supported different aspects of the conference. I helped with publicity, designed tote bags, merchandise, and lanyards, and assisted with the organisation of the event. Being involved in the planning process allowed me to work closely with other committee members and develop valuable teamwork and communication skills. I also took part in PotMed interviews, helping to represent the society in a professional and welcoming way.
Alongside this, I was a tutor for the Year 1 Lecture Series and was involved in creating a POM mock for first-year students, which was a rewarding experience.
I am particularly interested in the Secretary role because it suits my organisational skills and attention to detail. I would also like to introduce a shared MM calendar in liaison with the Technology Lead so members can easily keep track of events and opportunities throughout the year. In addition, I think creating a shared Notion workspace would be helpful in keeping meeting minutes and resources organised and easily accessible for committee members.
