Sammy Kong
Hi everyone! My name is Sammy, and I am running to be President of ESN next year.
I am currently on exchange at ETH Zurich, and this experience has reminded me how exciting, confusing, and meaningful exchange can be, often all at the same time. Before university, I also moved between schools in China, Australia, the UK, and now Switzerland, so I understand what it feels like to arrive somewhere new, try to find your place, and slowly turn an unfamiliar city into a home.
That is exactly why I would love to help lead ESN. I want the society to be a welcoming space for incoming exchange students, as well as a useful and friendly place for students preparing to go abroad. At ETH, I attended events for both incoming and outgoing exchange students, and I met people who will be coming to Imperial next year. It made me realise how much ESN can mean to someone before they even start their exchange.
As President, I would focus on keeping the committee organised, supported, and motivated, while making sure our events are joyful, inclusive, and easy to join. I would like to run regular socials, practical exchange-preparation events, and larger trips that help people connect beyond their usual circles.
I also promise that, as someone who genuinely cannot stand unread emails, I will reply quickly, communicate clearly, and keep things moving. Most importantly, I would bring care, energy, and responsibility to making ESN a home for students from everywhere.
