Zuwern Goik
Hi everyone, Zuwern here — a first-year studying Biomedical Technology Ventures.
I grew up in Malaysia and completed my A-levels in the UK. Coming from a country known for its spice-numbing, flavour-packed cuisine — from nasi lemak (coconut rice topped with a fried egg or crispy chicken) to buttery, flaky roti eaten alongside creamy mutton curry — I’m naturally a foodie and take food very seriously. My first order of business would be to share these flavours with the committee.
I plan to host potlucks where we can try each other’s cuisines and bond over the little cultural quirks we grew up with — like how we add “lah” at the end of sentences for no clear reason… why do that lah?
Alongside that, I’d love to organise weekly get-togethers, whether that’s picnics or hiking trips. Cooking weekly for people and setting up a place on campus where students can leave unwanted clothes to be donated remains at the top of my list. I will also continue seeking opportunities to collaborate with other non-profit organisations, as I genuinely think it’s valuable and honestly quite cool to gain new perspectives and learn from different approaches.
Thank you for reading my manifesto, and I hope to see you as next year’s committee.
