Sudharshan Palaniappa
Hi everyone! I’m Sudharshan, a fourth-year medical student, and I’m excited to be running for Vice-President of the Transplant and Vascular Society.
Transplant surgery stands at the intersection of technical excellence, innovation, and profound human impact. From organ preservation and immunosuppression to complex multi-disciplinary decision-making, it is a field that embodies both scientific advancement and compassionate care. As Vice-President, I want to help shape a society that reflects this depth, making it academically ambitious, collaborative, and inclusive.
My experience across multiple societies has prepared me well for this role. As National Conference Lead in SORA and Vice-President (Events) of FoMSF, I have worked closely with Presidents and committees to coordinate large-scale events, oversee logistics, and ensure strategic goals are translated into tangible outcomes. I understand that the Vice-President’s role is not only to support the President, but also to ensure continuity, stability, and smooth execution of the society’s initiatives.
If elected, my priorities will be to:
• Support the delivery of a high-quality flagship conference and skills workshops.
• Develop a mentorship scheme linking students with transplant surgeons and academic trainees.
• Expand research engagement by facilitating networking sessions in transplant immunology and outcomes research.
• Strengthen collaborations with other surgical and medical societies to broaden interdisciplinary learning.
I am committed to being proactive, reliable, and approachable, ensuring our society continues to grow in both academic excellence and member engagement.
I would be honoured to serve as your Vice-President and help elevate the society to new heights. Thank you for your support!
