Kiran Patel

Hi everyone! I’m Kiran, a first-year Economics, Finance & Data Science student and the current Events Officer for EFDS Society. Over the past year, helping organise events and socials has given me the chance to see how valuable the society is in bringing our cohort together. I’m excited to run for Vice President to help build on this and further strengthen the EFDS community.

Through my role as Events Officer, I have worked to organise events that encourage students to connect outside the classroom. These experiences have shown me that EFDS is at its best when it combines academic support, career development, and a strong social community.

If elected Vice President, I would focus on three main priorities:

1)Career Development: Expand networking opportunities with professionals in fields such as investment banking, asset management, consulting and data science, alongside practical workshops on topics like financial modelling and data analysis.

2)Academic Support: Work with lecturers, alumni and older students to host revision sessions, study groups and subject talks that help students navigate the quantitative nature of the EFDS course.

3)Community & Social Events: Build on the work already done by organising more inclusive social events,from informal socials and sports to larger gatherings that strengthen the EFDS cohort.

As someone already involved in running the society, I understand how it operates and how we can continue improving it. I would love the opportunity to help shape an engaging, supportive and ambitious EFDS community.
