I am excited to run for Events Officer for Haematology Society, particularly as a current member of the subcommittee. Being part of the team this year has allowed me to see the work that goes into organising events and the potential the society has to expand its academic and professional impact.
Haematology is a specialty that bridges multiple disciplines, from oncology to immunology, and offers a unique blend of laboratory science and clinical medicine. I would love to contribute to creating events that reflect this breadth while remaining engaging and accessible to students at all stages of their training.
Through my leadership roles, including serving as Secretary and Senior Social Media Lead for the Institute of Medical Ethics, alongside previous media positions with national medical organisations, I have developed strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and experience coordinating with speakers and committee members. These roles have strengthened my ability to plan, communicate, and ensure events run smoothly from concept to delivery.
If elected, I would:
-
Organise a balanced programme of academic talks, interactive workshops, and career-focused panels.
-
Strengthen collaboration with related societies to host joint events and broaden attendance.
-
Introduce structured event timelines to ensure smooth planning and effective promotion.
-
Explore initiatives such as a case-based session or journal discussion to encourage deeper academic engagement.
Having already been involved in the subcomm, I understand its strengths and areas for growth. I would be committed to delivering well-organised, engaging events that reflect both the academic depth and collaborative spirit of HaemSoc!
