As a fellow cybersecurity enthusiast and first year computing student, I know how vast and confusing the field can be as a beginner. As Academic Events Officer, I want work with the Academic Chair to bring events that address this gap in knowledge and show that cyber can be for everyone!
My two main objectives are:
1. To align events with CyBOK guide
CyBOK is a framework designed to support teaching within the field by identifying key areas of interest such as Cryptography and Software Security. This will help our members discover different areas of cybersecurity that they like as well as provide them with a well-rounded basis to cyber.
2. To promote engagement from the community
On the weeks where we do not have in person academic events, I plan to work with the Academic Chair to send out book recommendations, podcasts, articles, training courses and more to promote discussion between members in CyberSOC and feed their interest in the field.

I am also excited to be working on a new initiative at Imperial that will run alongside CyberSOC and bring even more opportunities for students to develop their knowledge in the field! So stay tuned for that 😉
