Robotics: Vice President: Wellbeing

Hi, I'm Aidan and I'm running for Robotics Vice President (Wellbeing).

I've been an active member of Robotics the last three years and have worked closely with the committee through IC Hack, where Robotics played a key role. Through DoCSoc, LGBTQ+ in Computing, and CGCU, I've also run multiple collaboration events with Robotics - so I know the society, its people, and what makes it great.

What I also know is that there's more we can do to make sure everyone in Robotics feels welcome and supported - not just the people who've been around the longest.

Making Robotics welcoming for newer members.

  • Create clearer onboarding so new members can get stuck in from day one
  • Expand Robotics 101 sessions — run them more frequently with more spaces so new members can actually get in

More socials and stronger connections.

  • Continue and grow the social workshop events that already make Robotics fun - these are worth protecting
  • Build collaboration events with other societies - I've done this across DoCSoc, LGBTQ+ in Computing, and CGCU and I'll bring that to Robotics

An inclusive society at every level.

  • Make sure Robotics actively welcomes people of all genders, backgrounds, and experience levels - in practice, not just in principle
  • Check in with members regularly so problems are caught early, not after someone's already disengaged

I've seen from the outside how a good wellbeing culture transforms a society. I want to build that inside Robotics - so it's a place everyone wants to stay, not just join.
