Engineers Without Borders UK: Vice President: Projects

I’m Ahaan Hattangadi, an MSci Chemistry student, running to be your next Vice President: Projects because I believe our events should reflect the full intellectual range of our society, from people passionate in STEM from engineering to natural sciences.

Since joining EWB, I have actively contributed through a project with Naked Energy on integrating desalination technologies with their VirtuHOT solar thermal collector. I have also gained wider project experience at Imperial, including the Solar Project in Energy Society and my current work at 180DC with Promethias, a healthcare-based startup. Through these three projects, I have developed a strong understanding of how initiatives function at Imperial and EWB and how to collaborate effectively with both companies and students to maximize impact.

My past leadership experience makes me a strong candidate. As Chair of 'Ladakh GC', one of the largest service organisations in my high school, I helped organise numerous large-scale fundraising initiatives, including Kahaani and Run for Rights, each of which raised over 10,000 SGD. I was also part of Student Voice, contributing to the planning of school-wide assemblies. These roles taught me how to manage teams, coordinate logistics, and run projects effectively: skills directly applicable to this role.

As the Vice President: Projects I will prioritise projects that provide representation for all members, not only engineers but also natural sciences students, ensuring initiatives are interdisciplinary and offer practical experience with tangible skills relevant to future careers.
