In medical school, exposure shapes ambition. The specialties we hear about, see, and engage with are the ones we begin to imagine ourselves in. Transplant and vascular surgery is one of the most technically demanding and rapidly advancing fields in medicine, yet for many students, it remains distant and unfamiliar.
I want to change that.
As Social Secretary for Imperial Medics Women’s Football and someone currently supporting publicity within the team, I have developed practical experience in promotion, communication, and engagement. I understand how to generate interest, maintain momentum, and create an inclusive atmosphere where people feel encouraged to get involved. Whether coordinating events or increasing attendance through targeted promotion, I know how to make opportunities visible and accessible.
As Publicity Officer, my aim would be to build a stronger presence for the Transplant & Vascular Society and ensure students don’t just hear about events, they feel excited to attend them.
My focus would be:
1. Increasing Visibility
- Consistent, engaging promotion across social media platforms
- Clear, well-designed posts
- Showcasing the impact of transplant and vascular medicine through patient stories, innovation highlights, and surgical breakthroughs
2. Making the Field Less Intimidating
- Promoting practical workshops such as suturing and technical skills sessions
- Advertising beginner-friendly events so pre-clinical students feel welcome
3. Connecting Students to Opportunity
- Publicising research, audits, and mentorship opportunities
- Promoting networking events with surgeons and trainees
With my experience in leadership, event coordination, and promotion, I am confident I can strengthen the society’s voice and expand its reach.
