As a founding member of this society, I hope to see the society continue to grow.
Experience:
As the current Transplant VP, I co-chaired this year's annual conference in collaboration with the surgical society. I facilitated two new workshop designs for heart and renal transplantation; one of my passions is designing surgical simulation models.
Having returned from a month-long international observership at one of the top centres for transplant and vascular surgery, I have a few ideas I intend to implement upon election.
This year, I liaised with a series of Chinese and Pakistani factories to purchase custom-engraved vascular equipment. I understand that having proper tools is necessary for our growing society to flourish.
I have also been volunteering in a lab with a focus on tissue engineering, an experience which has shaped me into a strong advocate for living tissue.
New Ideas:
I will introduce a 6-week London-wide in-person practical teaching series. I will develop more transplantation models for this purpose.
The Annual Conference will include more on general and cardiovascular surgery.
I will orchestrate innovative networking seminars concerning tissue-engineering and scaffolding.
