Neuro: Neurosurgery Lead

Neurosurgery has always been more than just a career interest for me but a passion. From early on in medical school, I’ve actively sought opportunities to explore the specialty, attending and organising national and international conferences (e.g. NANSIG and INNC) and completing courses such as the Fundamentals for Early Neurosurgical Trainees (FENT) programme delivered by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to pursuing neurosurgery and given me valuable insight into the training pathway.

As Neurosurgery Lead, my primary goal would be to create more accessible and meaningful research opportunities for students. Research is a crucial part of a competitive neurosurgical portfolio, yet many students struggle to find projects or mentorship. I want to bridge that gap by connecting members with ongoing projects, encouraging collaborative student-led research, and supporting those who are new to academic work so they can confidently gain experience.

I also aim to expand our networking opportunities with neurosurgeons and trainees. By organising talks, mentorship schemes, and Q&A panels, I hope to provide clear guidance on career planning, portfolio building, and navigating the neurosurgical application process.

If elected, I will work to ensure that anyone with an interest in neurosurgery, whether certain about the specialty or just curious, has the chance to explore it fully, gain research experience, and receive the guidance they need to pursue their goals.

I would be honoured to represent you as Neurosurgery Lead in Neuro Soc.
