Ayan Farhan
Hello! I’m Ayan, and I’m excited to put myself forward for the role of Vice President of Orthopaedics Society.
OrthoSoc represents a specialty that combines technical skill, teamwork, and real impact on patients’ quality of life, and I’m keen to expand opportunities for students to explore it. As part of Surgical Society, I’ve helped organise and run numerous conferences, including the International Orthopaedics Conference. From supporting logistics to ensuring events run smoothly on the day, I’ve gained first-hand insight into what makes large academic events successful.
Alongside this, I bring strong leadership experience. As President of my school Debate Club, I organised tournaments and trained over 120 students, developing confidence in coordination, communication, and team management. I also organised a sports medicine talk with the Head of Sports Medicine at Arsenal FC, strengthening my ability to liaise with senior clinicians and deliver high-quality events for students interested in the specialty.
Here are four key goals I’d love to focus on:
Expand hands-on workshops - Deliver practical sessions on fracture management, casting, and orthopaedic examination skills.
Strengthen clinical links - Actively connect students with orthopaedic surgeons for research, audits, and mentorship.
Invite inspiring speakers - Organise career insight talks across orthopaedic subspecialties.
Enhance multidisciplinary collaboration - Partner with sports medicine and surgical societies for joint events reflecting real-world practice.
I believe OrthoSoc thrives when it listens to its members and continues to evolve. I’m eager to build on its strong foundations.
Thank you for your consideration - I’d truly appreciate your support!
