Manas Paul
Hi everyone, I’m Manas, a third year medic, I’d love the opportunity to be your Orthopaedics Society President.
I love orthopaedics because it restores something fundamental to people’s lives: movement. It combines anatomy, problem solving, and hands-on skills in a uniquely rewarding way, allowing direct improvement of patients’ quality of life.
As President, I want to encourage interest in orthopaedics across all year groups and show that it’s a specialty open to anyone with enthusiasm and dedication. I aim to lead collaboratively by working closely with and supporting the committee, ensuring we deliver engaging and valuable events for students.
I’m also Imperial’s local representative for the British Orthopaedic Medical Students and Foundation Doctors Association (BOMFA), which connects our society to a national network of trainees and organisations, creating opportunities for external speakers, mentorship, and career insight.
This year, I served as the society’s Sponsorship Officer where I secured financial sponsorship from major companies for our annual Orthopaedics Conference, allowing us to provide the tools and bone models used in workshops. I was also involved in organising the lag screw fixation workshop and preparing the fracture models used during the sessions. Through this role, I built strong relationships with sponsors that I hope to continue developing to support even bigger events next year.
If elected, I would like to present you with:
- Our annual conference
- Teaching series’
- Mentorship schemes connecting students with esteemed surgeons
- Sessions supporting students interested in orthopaedics.
Thank you for reading my manifesto, i'd really appreciate your vote!
