Hey everyone! I'm Rodrigo, a second-year CS student with a passion for building things and bringing people together around tech. Before you read the rest, check out the poster attached to my campaign!
As GDG President, I want to grow our community into something every Imperial student, regardless of background, feels genuinely part of. That means more hands-on workshops, stronger industry connections, and a mentorship programme that actually prepares you for the real world. Tech literacy shouldn't be gatekept by your degree or prior experience.
I know what it takes to make a community thrive. As CGCU Guildsheet Editor, I revived a publication that hadn't been active in over three years — rebuilding something from scratch takes initiative, consistency, and knowing what people actually care about. I was awarded the John Elliot Bursary in recognition of my outstanding contributions as a CGCU officer.
My background backs this up. I completed a software engineering internship at a startup in my first year, and I'm joining Millennium as an AI Engineer this summer. I'm also undertaking a term-time UROP in Software Reliability, giving me hands-on experience across research and engineering. I understand what industry actually expects, and I want to close that gap for our members.
GDG has real potential to be the hub for tech at Imperial. I want to expand our pipeline of events, deepen our industry partnerships, and make sure every member walks away more hireable, more connected, and more confident.
Vote Rodrigo for GDC President.
