Paediatrics: Community & Outreach Chair

Hi! My name is Akshaya Muthirulandi, and I am running to be your future Paediatrics: Community and Outreach Chair.

You may be wondering—why me? I bring valuable experience from my roles in several Imperial societies, including Secretary of the Surgical Society and Treasurer of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Society. Through these positions, I have developed strong organisational, leadership, and time-management skills. In addition, I previously served as the Regional Head of In2MedSchool, a charity dedicated to widening participation and supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds into medicine.

As Paediatrics Community and Outreach Chair, I hope to:

Strengthen outreach initiatives that inspire school pupils and prospective students to consider careers in paediatrics and healthcare
Collaborate with charities, schools, and other societies to broaden the reach and impact of our outreach work
Organise engaging community-focused events, including talks and workshops that highlight child health and advocacy
Promote inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring our outreach reflects the diverse communities we serve

With my enthusiasm, dedication, and extensive experience in outreach and society leadership, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Paediatrics Society. It would be an honour to serve in this role and help expand our community impact in the coming year.
