Madura Vigneswaran

Hi everyone! My name is Madura, a second year medical student and I am excited to run for Outreach officer in Respiratory Society.

My placement on the acute medicine made me realise the importance of respiratory care and how central it remains to overall patient management. This experience strengthened my interest in the specialty and motivated me to contribute more actively to its promotion among medical students.

As Outreach Officer, I will focus on making our society more visible, more collaborative, and more accessible. I would like to:

• Create opportunities for medical students across all years to explore the speciality through Q&A panels, career insight sessions, research opportunities etc.
• Building and maintaining relationships with local schools to inspire the future healthcare professionals.
• Collaborating with other societies

My experience as Head of Sponsorship for Tamil Society has equipped me with the skills necessary for this role. I built and maintained strong, trusting relationships with external companies and sponsors, ensuring clear and professional communication at all times. At the same time, it strengthened my organisational abilities, as I had to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines, ensuring all sponsorship agreements, documentation, and financial tasks were completed accurately and on time.
