Tharanya Appulingam

Hi, I am very excited to run for Early Years Academic Officer as I would love to help younger students in furthering their knowledge and interest within respiratory. Personally I am very interested in respiratory medicine and this opportunity will help me better my knowledge as well as other students.

I have experience on a committee as Head of Sponsorship for International Tamil Society where I built relationships with sponsors and managed many sponsors at one time, demonstrating my communication and organisational skills. Through Tamil society committee as well as being on the subcommittee in my first year, I built my teamworking skills, learning how to co-ordinate and communicate to other members while organising events.

I believe that the crash courses offered by the society now are great in providing opportunities for students to learn more about certain topics and I would love to continue these and possibly introduce more. Furthermore, I would like to bring more speakers to talk about careers within respiratory as a specialty to enable students to gain a better understanding about what it consists of.

I would be very grateful for this opportunity and would do my best to organise many learning opportunities and make it as enjoyable as possible for all the students. I believe I am a great fit for this role due to my previous experience as well as teamworking and organisational abilities. Thank you!
