Seamus Kelly

Hey everyone, I'm sure many of you know me, but some of you may not.

A little bit about me: I started climbing 2.5 years ago, and have absolutely fallen in love with this sport and its culture, especially the outdoor trips. I'm not the best or most experienced climber out there, but I am tirelessly working on learning more and improving myself. I also happen to be absolutely terrified of heights, meaning I've taken a while to trust all the climbing gear (but now I do after learning more about them).

I believe all this makes me uniquely suited to being the Safety and Training Officer. I have a keen interest in the safety of gear and relevant safety practices, and a relentless drive to become a better climber. I will do my absolute best to ensure all members of the club are catered for, especially beginners and intermediates who want to learn more and get stronger. I know many of you may feel that it is daunting to learn about outdoor safety practices (I sure did), so I hope to organise teaching sessions at Westway more often for cleaning anchors, setting them up, as well as other things such as abseiling.
