Plastic Surgery: Microsurgery Conference Chair

Hi, my name is Zachariah Rahman, and I’m excited to be running for this position alongside Choi Beomsoo.

My first exposure to plastic surgery came at the Emergencies in Plastics conference, where I met many doctors and students who shared an interest in the specialty. It was through this conference and its talks that I became captivated by the wide range of procedures performed by plastic surgeons. The case that particularly sparked my interest involved a child who had lost his fingers in a lawnmower accident. As it was winter, the plastics team were able to recover the amputated digits and reconstruct the hand to a level where movement and sensation were almost normal. During a subsequent placement in breast surgery, it led to me being introduced to microsurgery. After learning about a few of the different procedures with the doctors, I was eager to deepen my understanding and later contacted them to gain further exposure to their work.

By this time next year, I will have attended both the EIP and RTS conferences while also serving on the subcommittee for the microsurgery conference. I believe my passion, strong networking skills, and experience supporting this specific conference will enable me to help deliver a smooth and successful event, inspiring others to discover the same enthusiasm for microsurgery that I have.
