My name is Shu Liu and I would be delighted to be your VCPE Treasurer next year!
I have interned across venture capital, including roles at Cryptogram Venture Fund of Funds and Oyster Venture Partners, and I have also secured Spring Week offers from HSBC CIB, D. E. Shaw, and Macquarie. Through these experiences and my network of venture capital professionals, I have seen how serious funds assess opportunities and deploy capital. That is the standard I want VCPE to operate at!
You may also know me as a VC Associate within the society, where I have helped organise networking events and contribute to VCPE initiatives. From this experience, it is clear that VC consistently has fewer networking guests and weaker firm representation compared to PE. For a society centred on private markets, that gap is something I aim to address!
As Treasurer, there are a few priorities I would focus on next year:
• Stronger financial discipline — clear budgeting, transparent reporting, and ensuring every pound spent generates real value for members.
• Expand VC industry engagement — bringing more venture capital investors and founders to campus through targeted outreach and sponsorship partnerships.
• Invest in high-impact initiatives — supporting flagship events, technical workshops, and curated networking that improve members’ recruiting outcomes.
I want to use my experience, industry exposure, and network to strengthen VCPE and maximise the value the society delivers!
