Ayan Dualeh
Hello everyone, I’m Ayan and I’m running to be one of your GP Soc Annual Conference Chairs!
GP is one of the most versatile and evolving careers in medicine, and I’d love to help create a conference that genuinely reflects that. It should not just be inspirational but practical and relevant to where we are as medics.
I was Sponsorship Officer for Imperial Charity Week, which involved weeks of preparation, coordinating logistics, and liaising with external companies to secure partnerships. It taught me how to plan efficiently, communicate professionally, and make sure large-scale events run smoothly behind the scenes. I’ve also delivered lectures to first years through Muslim Medics, which helped me develop confidence in presenting, engaging an audience, and breaking down complex ideas clearly. I am also on the SomSoc committee, helping coordinate events, communications, and society initiatives.
If elected, I’d focus on three main things. First, broadening our speaker lineup to showcase the diversity within GP from urgent care to GPs with special interests, would highlight the diversity of general practice. Second, incorporating clear guidance on GP training pathways, portfolio building, and how to strengthen applications. Third, expanding the scale of the conference by collaborating with other medical school GP societies and exploring partnerships with faculty and the RCGP to potentially provide formal recognition or accreditation.
Ultimately, I want the conference to feel ambitious but accessible and something you leave inspired by but also better informed.
I’d really appreciate your support!
