Hey everyone, I’m Roger. I’m running for Vice President of Investment Banking because I want the IB stream to be more interactive and easier to engage with, whether you’re just exploring finance or going for Spring Weeks and internships.

Finance isn’t hard to learn, the hard part is knowing where to start and what to focus on. Progress doesn’t come from listening to talks alone, it is built through producing work, getting feedback and improving each time.

If elected, I will:

Improve Market Matters

Market Matters is our regular IB-style initiative where members analyse current markets and deals and present their findings.

Invite sponsors/industry guests (e.g. Rothschild, Houlihan Lokey) to the sessions as guest judges
Introduce occasional deal-style challenges with prizes
More frequent with faster feedback

Host Imperial student & alumni panels

Q&A sessions and socials with Imperial students/alumni who secured Spring Weeks and internships
Focus on this year’s application process: CVs, HireVues/online tests, and networking

Work with other societies to bring larger events

Joint events with Investment Society and VC/PE to bring in more speakers and cover more areas of finance

Having been at pretty much every FinSoc event this year, I know what works and what doesn’t. If elected, I’ll make sure things run regularly and the IB stream stays active all year.
