Hi! My name is Sreeja and I am excited to run for Social Secretary as I not only love reading from as long as I can remember, but I also want to help create an engaging environment for everyone to bond over their shared passion for reading. Personally, my favourite genre is mystery/thriller and I am a huge fan of Agatha Christie, although I do indulge occassionally in popular fantasy books (absolutely love 'Six of Crows').
I really enjoy the monthly meetings and discussing differing insights on a book with others, but I want to introduce more relaxing and interactive events for the community, similar to the themed Secret Santa last year. If elected, I would organise "book-swaps" to encourage members to explore different genres and discover underrated authors, dramatic readings of your favourite scenes (for giggles), and collaborative events with other societies like writing and film, similar to the fun movie night. I will ensure events are inclusive and enjoyable for everyone - whether you are a regular reader who can finish a book in 2 days, or a not-so-regular reader who struggles to find time to read (me, unfortunately).
I hope to make book club an even more welcoming space by working closely with the committee to organise creative, entertaining socials.
