Ananya Agarwal
I am applying to be Early Years Co-ordinator for MedEd because I am passionate about supporting students through the challenging early stages of medical school. I want to help make the transition into learning at medical school smooth and more structured for others.
I currently serve as Early Years Co-ordinator for ICSM Netball, where I have organised academic tutorials, created comprehensive guidebooks and coordinated mock exams for younger years. This role has strengthened my ability to plan teaching strategically, communicate clearly, and ensure resources are tailored to what students actually need. Organising mocks required careful timetabling, collaboration with volunteers, and attention to detail — skills directly transferable to MedEd.
Alongside this, I have been actively involved in teaching and mentoring, which has reinforced how important clarity, approachability and consistency are in early medical education. I understand the value of structured, curriculum-aligned sessions, but also the importance of creating safe spaces where students feel comfortable asking questions.
If elected, I would prioritise well-organised, high-yield teaching sessions that align closely with exam content, clear communication with volunteers to maintain quality and reliability, and accessible revision support before assessments. I would also ensure that resources — such as concise guides or summary sheets — are available beyond sessions to maximise impact.
Above all, I want early years students to feel supported, confident and capable. I would bring organisation, enthusiasm and commitment to this role, and would be proud to contribute to strengthening MedEd’s support for its newest members.
