Rachel Hopkins
Hi, I'm Rachel, and I'm running for Med Ed: Early Years Coordinator.
As one of those "anxious about exams" medical students, I know exactly what Phase 1a and b students worry about - falling behind, not knowing what's important, and feeling like everyone else understands more than they do. This year, I want to better support the pre-clinical years in their studies and in feeling confident in the lead up to exams.
I'm highly organised and genuinely enjoy talking to people. Whether it's managing committees, events, or teaching sessions, I like making moving parts work smoothly together. if elected, I'll ensure Med Ed runs with structure and clarity, rather than last-minute 'organised chaos'.
My aims:
- Clear, early communication to Phase 1a and 1b about what teaching sessions are running when.
- Publishing schedules in advance so students can incorporate Med Ed sessions into their revision timelines.
- Coordinating tutors effectively so sessions are reliable and well-prepared.
- Focusing on quality over quantity - structured, high-yield teaching that aligns with the curriculum.
I'm passionate about teaching, and I care about making sessions genuinly useful rather than overwhelming. Early years sets the foundation for the rest of med school, and students deserve reliable, quality teaching that builds confidence.
If you want someone organised, proactive, and genuinely invested in supporting Phase 1 students, I'd love your vote for Early Years Coordinator.
