Algorithmic Trading: Head of Events

Hi, I'm Michelle, a second year Biological Sciences student, and I hope to be your next Head of Events!

I have been an active member and loved the range of insightful events organised this year, something I am determined to build on. Having secured internships at RBC, UBS and Morgan Stanley after navigating application season myself, I understand how overwhelming it can feel, and I want to make sure no one in AlgoSoc has to go through it alone.

Term 1: Career First

My priority is making AlgoSoc the go-to resource during application season. I will run workshops on technicals, case studies and assessment centres, alongside mock interviews led by members who have recently secured offers. I also want to launch a peer mentorship programme pairing newer members with experienced ones, ensuring support is continuous. I will bring sponsor recruiters onto campus for honest conversations and organise office visits that give members a genuine feel for their target firms.

Term 2: Depth and Discovery

Once recruitment quiets down, I will shift focus to building real knowledge through lectures, speakers and panels. I will grow the Algothon into the leading UK hackathon, introduce a multi-week team trading challenge under realistic market conditions, and deliver AlgoCourse content in more flexible formats so no one is left behind.

I will expand collaborations with societies at Imperial and universities including LSE, and invest in socials that make AlgoSoc feel open to everyone.

Thank you, and vote for me for an even more exciting year!
