Haya Aslan

Hi, I’m Haya, a third-year medical student, and I’m running for Play Team Chair! I started volunteering this academic year, and it has honestly been the highlight of my year. Being on the wards and spending time playing with the children is something I would recommend to anyone, regardless of whether they’re interested in paediatrics. It is incredibly rewarding to brighten a child’s day during what can be a difficult time, and each week felt unique because every child was different. Although I never quite knew what to expect, I always left feeling that I had made a positive difference.

Through volunteering, I’ve gained insight into how Play Team operates and the organisation and responsibility required to keep it running smoothly. I would love the opportunity to take on a greater role in supporting the scheme, helping ensure it continues to provide a consistent, positive presence on the wards for patients, staff, and volunteers :)
