Harshini Ragupathy
Hi everyone! I’m Harshini, and I would love to be your next Paediatrics Conference Chair.
My passion for paediatrics has guided my involvement in the Paediatrics Society from first year, through the Community and Outreach subcommittee and Play Team, seeking opportunities to work with children and young people.
This year, as Psychiatry Treasurer and Open Minds Programme Lead, I’ve planned an outreach programme for young people - organising sessions, liaising with external contacts, and coordinating logistics. I’ve also been part of the planning of the Psychiatry Conference, gaining insight into task delegation and event organisation. Helping young people drives my passion for paediatrics, and I want to create a conference that inspires and informs future paediatricians. My roles this year have strengthened the organisational and leadership skills needed and are experience I can bring directly to this conference.
Attending this year’s Paediatrics Conference was hugely insightful and left me excited about the specialty. I want to recreate that experience, making the conference practical, inspiring, and engaging.
My aims:
-
Training pathway guidance - portfolios, applications, ways to stand out
-
Research opportunities - finding projects and getting involved early
-
Networking - time with consultants and trainees
-
Interactive workshops - building on what worked well this year
-
Poster/abstract competition - winner presents at the conference
-
Early feedback collection - shaping the programme around student priorities
I would love the opportunity to lead such an impactful event and will bring the commitment and skills to make it a success.
