Salina Bartley
Hi everyone! We’re Salina and Rachel, third-year medical students running to be your next Co-Chairs of Gastro & Hep Society!
Between us, we bring a wide range of experience to the role.
We’ve had a range of roles across various university societies, gaining broad experience in leadership, coordination, and event delivery.
Some relevant experience include serving as Gastro Publicity Officer, contributing to a national teaching series subcommittee and a national surgical teaching series with the SUPTA committee, hosting a charity event with the Bengali Society, and supporting Obs & Gynae conferences as well as paediatric outreach at conference events.
Together, these experiences have enabled us to develop strong skills in organising, promoting, and delivering high-quality teaching and large-scale events.
If elected, we’d love to build on the society’s success with:
- A regular JOURNAL CLUB to explore landmark and emerging gastroenterology research
- A MENTORSHIP SCHEME linking pre-clinical and clinical students with senior students and doctors
- An engaging ANNUAL CONFERENCE with inspiring speakers and practical workshops
- A structured TUTORIAL SERIES for pre-clinical students, and continuation of the ICA/BSc support series
- INTER-UNI EVENTS for example NATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE GASTROENTEROLOGY CONFERENCE.
We’re passionate about making Gastro & Hep more accessible, academic and welcoming for everyone and we’d love the opportunity to lead the society next year!
