Hello! My name is Akshaya Muthirulandi, and I am excited to be running for Gastroenterology & Hepatology Chair.

You may be wondering—why me? As the current unofficial Events Officer for the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Society, I have already been actively involved in shaping society activities and supporting its growth. This experience has given me valuable insight into what our members want and how we can continue to improve engagement and opportunities for students.

As Chair, I aim to:

Establish a Gastroenterology & Hepatology conference to give students greater exposure to the specialty, research opportunities, and career pathways
Expand educational and networking events, including talks, workshops, and panels with clinicians and researchers
Strengthen student involvement by creating inclusive, well-organised events that benefit students at all stages of training

With my enthusiasm, dedication, and practical experience within the society, I am eager to take on this role and contribute to its continued success. It would be an honour to serve as your Chair and help make the coming year both exciting and productive for all members.
