Hey DoCSoc! I’m Bert: a Y1 Computing student, Academic Rep, and IC Hack ’26 winner.
DoCSoc is world-class. With its London location and excellent links to industry, there's really no doubt our academic events should be world-class too! By boosting engagement with workshops/talks relevant to 2026/27 and organising more CV-enhancing, hands-on 101s year-round, I'll ensure DoCSoc's academic events always put you and your career first.
Why me?
- Public Speaker: With extensive lead presenting experience (hackathons/projects), I have the confidence to extensively outreach and bring you face-to-face with true leaders in their fields.
- Ambition: Having achieved an Optiver spring week and 2 hackathon podium finishes, I always aim high and understand the importance of being career-oriented. I'll bring this vision to DoCSoc, alongside levelling up ICHack's Hacker Education division.
- Leadership Experience & Teamwork: Being proactive in committees (Academic Representative, Hall Treasurer, Big Band Events Manager) and as an active trumpeter (Symphony Orchestra/Big Band/Malaysian Night), I'm an experienced team player and leader!

- Events Fit For 2026/27: New, improved talks/workshops/101s (talks, panels, Q&As) relevant to 2026/27, and revamping outdated material (Internships 101).
- Member-Driven Focus: A streamlined system for suggesting topics/events and for hosting your own talks!
- More Interactive Sessions: More practical, interactive experiences with exciting technologies/frameworks by increasing the scale and frequency of 101s.
- More Events, Year-Round: More insightful talks/workshops/101s spread across all three terms, not fading away after ICHack.
