Who am I?
I’m Shriyans, a first-year Computing student, and I’m running for Academic Events Coordinator to enrich your experience beyond just recruiting events with free pizza: I want to create opportunities that genuinely help you grow, build, and stand out.
What will I do for you?
Many of us want meaningful projects for internships, jobs, or simply to build something worthwhile. But strong ideas are hard to find, and even when we have them, they often live only on our GitHub profiles. Meanwhile, departments and societies regularly need technical support.
BuildLab bridges that gap.
Groups submit clearly scoped projects, and students apply individually or in teams. Over a set period, they deliver focused, practical solutions with measurable impact. Students gain real experience working with stakeholders; partners gain technical expertise.
BuildLab is about building things that matter, not just projects that sit on a CV.
Why me?
On top of the initiative I outlined above, I will:
- Listen to your ideas: DocSoc can't run without your overwhelming support, and that means that you deserve to be listened to. As someone who served on student council and fought for initiatives, I know what it's like to feel ignored.
- Enrich our learning: With series such as Rust 101, I believe this can be expanded to other frameworks
